This month marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York City. This uprising is largely credited as the foundation of the modern LGBTIAQ+ rights movement in the United States of America. The event itself was started by a police raid on a gay bar called the Stonewall Inn, leading the patrons to fight back, with protests and conflicts following for days and weeks afterwards.
